Real Lofts, Not a Loft Look

Architecture that does the decorating.

Plenty of apartments borrow the word “loft.” The Power House is the real thing: a 1920s industrial power plant in Rock Hill’s old textile district, converted in 2023 into 37 homes. Because every apartment was shaped by the original structure, no two layouts are alike — and the brick, glass and steel that powered Rock Hill a century ago are now the walls, windows and ceilings of your home.

Century-Old Exposed Brick

Walls of original brick run through every home — architecture from the 1920s power plant that new construction can't copy.

Oversized Factory Windows

Factory-pane windows flood each loft with daylight; upper-floor homes look out over the atrium and the historic railroad trestle.

Soaring Ceilings

High ceilings throughout, with original industrial trusses overhead in the top-floor three-bedroom lofts.

Bi-Level & Tri-Level Homes

All eight two- and three-bedroom lofts span multiple levels connected by stairways — floor plans that exist nowhere else in Rock Hill.

Modern Finishes

Quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, oversized bathrooms and glass walk-in showers in a historic shell.

In-Unit Laundry & Wi-Fi

A full-size washer and dryer in every loft, plus property-wide high-speed Wi-Fi and elevator access.

The Building

A 1920s power plant, reimagined.

The restoration kept the landmark smokestacks — now lit at night and visible across University Center — along with the heavy brick walls and oversized windows. Inside, a multi-story atrium rises through the center of the old plant, ringed by exposed brick and original steel stairways, with a resident lounge where the turbines once stood. Outside, the event lawn and stage host concerts and markets in the warmer months. See more in the photo gallery and amenities.
